Why We Oppose Cell Phone Bans in Schools

The push to ban cell phones in K-12 schools is a calculated distraction from the systemic failures of the modern education system. Proponents claim these bans improve academic focus, but they ignore the reality that Restorative Justice policies have already stripped teachers of the power to enforce basic classroom discipline. At the state level, these bans do nothing to address plummeting test scores or behavioral issues; instead, they serve to hide evidence of indoctrination, activism, and safety concerns from parents. By removing the only tool students have to document what is actually happening in the classroom, schools are effectively demanding “blind trust” from parents while refusing to be held accountable.

Furthermore, a blanket ban is a classic example of collective punishment, where rule-following students are stripped of their lifelines because schools refuse to manage the disruptive few. Parents have a fundamental right to be the primary point of contact for their children, especially in an era where “woke” administrators, activist teachers and transgender-pushing school counselors often bypass parental consent. Until the education system undergoes massive structural changes and returns to a focus on merit and safety, parents must retain the right to provide their children with a direct line of communication and a means to record the truth.
